Marking the 25th anniversary of the original film, The Lexi Cinema in North-West London held a special screening of this film. This was particular special as the film is currently trapped in a legal hole where the owner can't be found to give the permission to show it, and the organisers of the event had spent many years trying to figure it out. So, quite rightly having exhausted all options they went ahead and showed it anyway with a clear disclaimer for the owner to get in touch if they didn't want it to go ahead. A little bit Maverick, but for the fans of the film the right thing to do.
The event was sold out and there were people I recognised from other cinemas in attendance, hopefully getting the confidence to also show this.
and as for the film, it's a classic and didn't deserve the remake. Arguably Keanu's best performance (after Bill & Ted of course). Swayze is cool and the foot chase is one of my favourite movie scenes.
