J-Pop Superstar Kyary Pamyu Pamyu was doing a quick tour of Europe as part of her global "The Spooky Obakeyashiki" Tour. The show has been touring Japan with a slightly larger production than what we had tonight, but it was still a fun show...it always is.
In the first half KPP was decked out in a dress covered in flowers and would take time out between songs to attempt to speak to us in English reading from a phrase book. On this occasion she explained that this was her 5th time to the UK and that Obakeyashiki is Japanese for "Haunted House", which explained the monsters overlooking the set.
The start of the 2nd half had her calling out "New Costume" and following it with "Crow".
For the encore there was another outfit change, accompanied by another "New Costume" but this time following it with "Happy Exorcist". Surreal.
At a little over an hour it was a short set, but the crowd were all into the show. There's no attitude at her shows, one reason why I like going to them. It was really crowded this time though. The last time I saw her here there was room to move, not tonight though.
